Birmingham, AL-based MRO parts distributor Motion is opening a new Motion Repair & Services location in Houston, TX.

The opening of the new location is planned for September.

The 7,000 square meter facility features CNC and manual machine tools with a lifting capacity of up to 30 tons, as well as diagnostic and testing equipment. The site is dedicated exclusively to repairs and services, allowing the receipt and cleaning of repairable equipment to be physically separated from the repair processes to enable best practices in terms of contamination. In addition, the site has offices and ample conference space for customer meetings and training.

In the meantime, the facility’s factory-trained technicians will focus on mechanical, fluid power, process pumps, turnkey solutions and field service. The shop’s formal quality program and factory repair process certifications will help provide optimal value to customers, Motion explained in an Aug. 26 press release.

“The services provided by this new shop will enable Motion to more holistically execute on our vision to be the preferred industrial solutions provider,” said Motion President James Howe. “The significant investment in this operation strengthens our overall value proposition and reflects our confidence in our employees and our commitment to serving the Houston market and beyond.”

The new location complements more than 45 existing Motion repair and service centers across North America.

In early August, Motion announced that it would acquire LSI Supply in Ontario.

Motion was ranked No. 2 on MDM’s list of top distributors for industrial supplies, No. 2 for MRO, No. 1 for power transmission/bearings, No. 3 for fluid power and No. 4 for hose and hose accessories.
