Nearly 200 delays reported at Charlotte Airport as Debby gets through

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – Tropical Storm Debby is drenching the Carolinas Thursday, causing travel issues both on the roads and in the air.

Heavy rain causes devastation in Charlotte Douglas International Airportwith almost 200 flight delays and about a dozen cancellations (as of 10:30 a.m.)

It has been a difficult week for travel in Charlotte, with the airport reporting around 2,000 delays and hundreds of cancellations since Sunday, according to Flight data Data.

Throughout the week, the airport has been urging travelers to check the status of their flight before arriving.

Since Debby first made landfall on Monday, it has been slowly moving upward through the southeast, making a second landfall early Thursday morning.

Debby is expected to be out of the Charlotte area by Friday morning, allowing for a dry weekend.
