Nearly completed Two Sister restaurant offers free hotdish tasting at Oronoco’s Gold Rush – Post Bulletin

ORONOCO, Minn. — As a kind of culinary foretaste, the siblings behind the nearly completed Two Sisters Kitchen + Bar

are offering free samples of their Hotdish and Beef Stroganoff during Gold Rush Days in Oronoco this weekend.

From 12 to 17 o’clock Diane Osland And Lori Melhorn will serve samples of family recipes in the parking lot in front of their new restaurant building at 1251 Cedar Center Ave. SE. Two Sisters is located north of the Oronoco Gas Station General store.

Also offered are tastings of desserts from Chrissy’s Tasty Temptations, which are also served at Two Sisters’ attached cafe and drive-thru. Drinks are available at a bar.

“We have two goals for this weekend: First, we want to announce that we’re here and that opening is getting closer,” Melhorn said. “And second, we want to provide a little education for our drive thru, which will not be a traditional drive thru with squawk box ordering. It will be run on a phone app, so we’ll hand out a card with explanations.”

When will customers have the opportunity to eat in the new 540 square meter restaurant and café?

“If everything goes well and there are no problems, we will hopefully get the keys to the building from Construction company Benike “Then we hope to be ready to open around mid-September.”

This new restaurant is the fulfillment of a dream of the sisters.

The 146-seat restaurant serves lunch and dinner daily and brunch on weekends. It features a full bar and a pet-friendly outdoor patio overlooking a pond.

Melhorn describes the menu as a mix of traditional, freshly prepared American fare, including steak and salmon burgers, as well as soup and sandwiches, with an emphasis on some popular Minnesota comfort food dishes. In addition to products from Chrissy’s Tasty Temptations, the cafe also serves specialty coffees and breakfast items.

Two Sisters Kitchen Rendering

Diane Osland and Lori Melhorn have begun construction on their dream restaurant, Two Sisters Kitchen + Bar, in Oronoco. The 5,800-square-foot restaurant is being built for a fall 2024 opening.

Contribution

They have family recipes for four different varieties of Minnesota’s most popular dish, so hotdish is always on the menu.

The journey of the last few months from the idea to the almost finished restaurant complex was instructive for Osland and Melhorn.

The sisters receive advice from Rochester restaurateurs Christine Stahl And Natalie Victoria from Victoria’s Ristorante and the Taps for their help. They also refer to Benike,

CRW Architecture + Design Group and the Rochester marketing firm named the Neighborhood group to help make their dream a reality.

“We learned that there is a lot more to consider when opening a restaurant than we thought. We surrounded ourselves with some really good people who taught us so much,” Melhorn said.

Two Sisters is the first step in a plan to develop the Oronoco area, just off US Highway 52.

Osland and Melhorn work with their father, Tom Gauthierunder the name Cedarpointe Partners to create a commercial area with four or five buildings for retail stores and other types of businesses.
