Netflix confirms season 5 of “Emily in Paris”

Emily in Paris is on the way to Rome.

Netflix has announced a fifth season extension of the romantic comedy Emily in Pariswith Lily Collins as Emily, who now lives in Rome. Collins, who announced the news on ABC‘s Good Morning Americaposted an Instagram video with the comment: “There is no place like Rome.”

“Marcello is a whole different adventure that we want for Emily because we want Emily to ultimately have a better work-life balance,” said Lily Collins. “We want Emily to be able to smile unconditionally. We want her to go beyond her vacation mode. And he comes at just the right time.”

The news from Emily in Paris The sequel comes just four days after Netflix released the second part of the current fourth season on September 12.

Originally developed for Paramount Network in 2018, Emily in Paris moved to Netflix in July 2020. The original storyline follows Collins as aspiring marketing executive Emily Cooper, an American who moves to Paris to bring an American perspective to a French marketing firm.

Flashback to the present: Season four ends with Emily being put in charge of the new office in Rome, which is convenient since her new boyfriend Marcello Muratori (Eugenio Franceschine), an Italian fashion executive, happens to be there.

“Emily will be present in Rome,” said creator and producer Darren Star. “That doesn’t mean she won’t be in Paris, but she will be present in Rome.”

Sending Emily to Italy to open a new office there stemmed from Star’s desire to “stay one step ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places” and to prove “that the show has the potential to have a bigger impact.”

The first part of the current season of Emily in Paris ranked number one on the Netflix Global Top 10 when it premiered in August. According to Netflix, it was viewed 19.9 million times in its first four days, reached the top 10 in 93 countries, and has remained on the list for four consecutive weeks since then.

The number of episodes for the fifth season has not yet been announced, but it is expected that there will be another 10 episodes, as in the first four seasons. So far, 40 episodes of Emily in Paris were produced. The new episodes are expected at an as yet undisclosed date in 2025.
