Well, that didn’t take long! Just one day after its release The perfect couple immediately jumped to number 1 in the Netflix charts – which is no surprise given the star cast of this new series.

A quick look at the trailer (below) confirms the caliber of the cast, which includes Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, who plays famed novelist Greer Garrison Winbury. Their success allows the family to live a life of luxury – but can such privileges defy a police investigation after a lavish wedding ends in disaster?

Kidman is not the only big name in The perfect couple either: Her on-screen husband, Tag Winbury, is played by Liev Schreiber – who is known for his Robert Donovan role. Dakota Fanning plays her sister-in-law Abby Winbury. There are many other talented faces as well.

Despite this star-studded cast, the series flopped on Rotten Tomatoes, receiving only 55% from critics. Of course, that’s not the be-all and end-all, as we’ve recently seen Netflix No. 1 entries like Chaosquickly rise in the audience rankings. The same could happen with The perfect coupleto.

As is quite typical with Netflix, The perfect couple is a box set worth watching from day one – all six episodes of the series are available. There is no weekly release schedule, as is typical for Apple TV+, for example, with shows like Evil MonkeyBut how each service plays its cards to be crowned the best streaming service is its own decision.

If you like crime dramas, then the series looks like a potential winner. Also known as an adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel of the same name, it was initially acquired by Fox Entertainment in 2019 before Netflix greenlit the series’ production in 2022. And now it’s here for all to see – if the Rotten Tomatoes rating doesn’t put you off, anyway…
