The newest store to open at Empire Place is full of candy and sodas.

Rocket Fizz has taken over the former Hawaii Fluid Art space at the end of one of the shopping centers along West 41st Street.

It is a nationwide concept that offers more than 500 types of soda, mostly in glass bottles, as well as a wide selection of sweets and novelties.

Franchisees John and Vickie DeWitte are franchise consultants and they liked the Rocket Fizz concept because the company has been in business since 2007 and has about 100 stores nationwide, they said.

The huge selection of sweets includes 100 types of toffee.

There is also a section with international sweets from Europe and Asia.

And there are nostalgic treats.

A large part of the inventory has already arrived on opening day, and more goods are on the way.

The store even accepts special requests if your favorite isn’t already on the shelf.

Rocket Fizz’s hours of operation at 4129 W. 41st St. are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Other upcoming openings at Empire Place include Hallmark and Snooze Mattress Co., both of which plan to open later this year.
