According to the NHC, the low pressure system could form late this weekend or early next week.

Some slow development is possible through the middle of next week as the storm slowly moves north or northwest over the northwestern Caribbean Sea or southeastern Gulf of Mexico.

The NHC gives the disturbance a nearly zero probability of occurring in the next two days and a 20 percent chance of occurring in the next week.

FOX 13 meteorologist Dave Osterberg said this low-pressure system, called the Central American Gyre, forms in the western Caribbean in early fall and historically fuels tropical activity.

“Due to the atmospheric conditions, it would probably be pulled into the Gulf,” Osterberg said. “That’s all the information we have. That’s all the information anyone has right now.”
