New food, parking at Arizona State’s Mountain America Stadium

TEMPE — Arizona State is doing everything it can to improve game day at Mountain America Stadium. New athletic director Graham Rossini said on the day he officially took office that the fan experience is a top priority.

The most tempting change is the special concessions that apply to each home opponent:

“Our game day specials are inspired by the culinary traditions of the teams we compete against, offering dishes that reflect the tastes of their hometown,” said Leigh Mills, regional chef for Sodexo, in a press release. “Our varied menu is suitable for all fans, offering delicious classics as well as healthier, vegetarian-friendly options.”

New items like Sonoran Dogs, expanded vegan options and build-your-own burrito bowl stations have been added to concessions for the entire season. The value-priced menu items range from $5 to $6.60.

Thanks to an improved matchday app with stadium map, fans can more easily find the food specialties or staples they want.

In addition, the university wanted to make attending games more affordable and family-friendly.

“We’ve made it a priority to listen to what (the ASU community) loves about game days — what keeps them coming back — and also what frustrates them and where we can improve,” Rossini said in a press release. “These conversations have been about really listening and then taking action.”

The parking situation has been significantly improved with more parking spaces, new traffic routing, better signage and halved parking prices in all ASU buildings.

ASU opens its season Saturday with a game against Wyoming and Elkhart. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on the Arizona Sports app.
