New Louisville Kroger location to open in mid-September. What you should know

The opening date for Kroger’s new East End store has finally been set, and the celebrations will include perks for customers, including $15 gift cards for those at the front of the line, the company announced Monday.

The ceremony, scheduled for Sept. 12 at 10010 Ballardsville Road, is scheduled to begin at 7:45 a.m. The first 250 customers to enter the store will receive gift cards, company officials said in a news release.

In addition to the offerings typically found at Louisville’s Kroger stores, the 66,000-square-foot facility houses a Starbucks, a drive-thru wine and liquor store and a Murray’s Cheese Shop. A new gas station is already in operation, offering customers a 20-cent-per-gallon discount.

“We are thrilled to unveil this new store to the public during our grand opening celebration,” said Ben Fitzgerald, Ballardsville store manager, in the press release. “We look forward to unveiling all the hard work we’ve done since breaking ground and providing our customers with a brand new shopping experience for years to come.”

The Ballardsville Road store will be Kroger’s 27th location in the greater Louisville area.

“Kroger is honored to expand our service to additional stores in the Kentuckiana region, reflecting our commitment to the community,” spokeswoman Jessica Sharp said in the release. “We recognize Kroger’s unique role in the communities we serve. As an employer, grocer, healthcare provider and more, we have a responsibility to create positive change and fulfill our purpose of nourishing the human spirit.”
