A new video game featuring Europa-Park’s mascots Ed and Edda is the latest in a series of announcements that will see the characters expand beyond the park’s boundaries as part of a major project that will leverage the intellectual property across multiple formats and also include a new ride experience and the release of a major motion picture.

“Ed & Edda: Grand Prix – Racing Champions” is scheduled to be released in 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and is being developed by Tivola Games in collaboration with Europa-Park and Mack Magic.

With eight playable characters, players can race on 12 tracks in famous European locations. The game also allows players to tune their cars, improve the visuals of their characters and customize the look of the car itself.

The game will feature a split-screen mode for local multiplayer, allowing up to four people to play the family-friendly racing game at the same time.

The game will launch at the same time as the release of European Grand Prixa film to be released worldwide and in several languages and co-produced by Mack Magic and Warner Bros Film Productions Germany.

Not only is a film and video game currently in production, Europa-Park will also round out the entire project by introducing a new interactive family attraction based on the feature film, set to open at the German theme park in 2025.

“We are delighted to have strong partners like Tivola Games who believe in our Ed & Edda story world by bringing the popular characters to PCs and consoles worldwide,” said Michael Mack, Managing Partner of Europa-Park.

“This makes the first feature film with the popular Europa-Park mascots Ed & Edda more than just a film: Together with the associated new family attraction in 2025 at Europa-Park, the video game Ed & Edda: Grand Prix – Racing Champions and many other licensed products, it is the start of a very special transmedia project. We are convinced that our transmedia strategy will build a long-term, sustainable brand with content around our characters.”
