New Yorker pulls out knife and stabs victim during family brawl at amusement park

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY—Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the indictment of Daniel Tomasky, 42, of Shirley, on several charges, including first-degree assault, following an incident at Adventureland amusement park in Farmingdale.

The incident, which occurred on July 7 at around 4:45 p.m., involved an argument between members of Tomasky’s family and the victim’s family.

Tomasky is accused of pulling a knife from his waistband in front of numerous children, approaching the victim, who was initially not involved in the altercation, and stabbing him.

The victim was subsequently hospitalized at Nassau University Medical Center and underwent surgery for his injuries.

After the attack, Tomasky allegedly disposed of the knife in a sewer near his vehicle, but was arrested at the scene. The knife was later recovered by police. On August 7,

Tomasky was arraigned before Superior Court Judge Anthony J. Senft, Jr. on charges including first-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Judge Senft set bail at $50,000 cash, $100,000 surety bond, or $500,000 partially secured bond. Tomasky is represented by Michael Brown, Esq. and is due back in court on September 3. The case is being prosecuted with assistance from the Suffolk County Police Department’s First Squad.

    UNIONTOWN, OH—Uniontown Police are urging the public’s help in locating 11-year-old Alexis Bartley, who went missing at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2024. Alexis was last seen leaving her foster home in the 3800 block of Sweitzer Ave NW.

    Alexis is described as having strawberry blonde hair and green eyes, standing approximately 5’10” tall and weighing approximately 85 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white Nike t-shirt, black bike shorts and gray Puma shoes. Authorities have issued a BOLO alert and notified Child Protective Services of her disappearance.

    Given Alexis’ connections, there is a possibility that she is in or around the Akron area where she has biological relatives. Uniontown Police are asking anyone with information on Alexis’ whereabouts to contact them at 330-699-6444 to assist in her safe return.

  • Phone theft incident at Utica Avenue subway station

    BROOKLYN, NY—On Monday, July 1, a phone theft occurred at the Utica Avenue subway station. At approximately 6:30 p.m., a 25-year-old woman was attacked while standing on the southbound platform. An unknown individual approached her, forcibly removed her phone, and then fled the station on foot in an unknown direction.

    No injuries were reported following the incident. Authorities are investigating and are asking the public for help in identifying the suspect involved in this theft.

  • After nearly three weeks, police search for missing New Jersey woman intensifies

    MANCHESTER, New Jersey—Manchester Township police are asking the public for help in locating 24-year-old Erin Garofalo. Garofalo, who last had contact with her family on July 25, spoke by phone and has not been heard from since.

    Garofalo was last seen in the Trenton area, specifically near Barnt Avenue, and is known to frequent Hamilton, Princeton, and East Windsor. She is described as a white female, approximately 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, and has brown hair. She also uses the aliases Erin Taylor and Erin Gilbert.

    Despite numerous investigative efforts, her current whereabouts remain unknown. Authorities are asking anyone with information on Erin Garofalo’s whereabouts to contact Manchester Police at 732-657-6111.
