An outstanding talent and rising star.

Today, Noeline Hofmann released two debut singles, one titled “Lightning in July (Prairie Fire)” and “Purple Gas,” which you may recognize from Zach Bryan’s The great American bar scene when they sang it as a duet.

The 20-year-old Canadian native combines inspiration from her childhood on the rolling plains of the West with rawness to create a sound that is exactly what the country music scene is striving for. Zach Bryan first discovered Hofmann in October 2023 when she posted a video of her original song “Purple Gas,” the same single she sings on her “Belting Bronco Session.”

She has an incredibly mature and haunting voice and an innate talent for storytelling, giving her the unique ability to tell stories with a maturity unusual for her age that resonate deeply with listeners from all walks of life.

And these two debut singles illustrate her talent and she says that “Purple Gas,” already a fan favorite, is directly inspired by her upbringing in Canada:

“‘Purple Gas’ was inspired by my upbringing in rural southern Alberta, Canada and my time on a cattle ranch in western Manitoba.

The imagery is derived from experiences in those environments. It’s a song about resilience and the rural attitude towards hardships that are beyond one’s control.”

And as for “Lightning in July (Prairie Fire),” she says it’s a “cheeky self-introduction” to get fans pumped up for her live shows when she tours with fellow Canadian Colter Wall and Wyatt Flores this year:

“It’s a cheeky self-introduction – a playful, characterful fight song along the lines of ‘can’t stop, won’t stop, clear the way, speak the language.'”

It’s inspired by the feeling of walking around with a loaded gun, so to speak, and being underestimated or overlooked. I wrote it with the intention of adding a fun traditional country barnburner to the pre-tour setlist.”

To say that these two debut singles are impressive would be an understatement, and as Noeline’s name and catalog continue to grow, I think she will quickly become a star in the world of independent country, and hopefully much more.

When you have as much talent as she does, the sky’s the limit, so to speak. And she’s proving that she’s not just here to stay, she’s here to be a star, and I’m here for it.
