NFL fans say Tom Brady’s ‘cold-blooded’ moment was the best of his turbulent career as a sports reporter

NFL fans say Tom Brady’s ‘cold-blooded’ moment was the best of his turbulent career as a sports reporter

Thanks to a dose of brutal honesty, Tom Brady significantly improved his skills in the announcer’s booth over the weekend.

The seven-time Super Bowl winner’s Fox debut was met with heavy criticism from fans online as he began his first week of a 10-year, $375 million contract as the network’s lead NFL analyst.

Nevertheless, the former quarterback managed another NFL comeback when he improved his performance in the locker room during the Dallas Cowboys’ loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

And there was one moment in particular when NFL fans were convinced that the New England Patriots legend was fit for the national team.

With the score at 28-13 and on the drive, Cowboys quarterback Prescott looked in the direction of Jalen Brooks, but the second-year receiver slipped on his route and the pass was intercepted.

After the blunder, Fox Sports commentator Kevin Burkhardt asked Brady on commentary if Prescott should return to receiver during the game – and the retired quarterback did not hold back.

Brady didn’t hesitate and immediately answered very bluntly: “Not today.”

“It’s actually pretty tough going back there today,” he explained. “You know where he is and you think, ‘God, I’m going to him and I just can’t rely on him to stay on his feet.'”

“He obviously trusts him to do the right thing, but can he do it? Can he go out there and do it?”

NFL fans loved Brady’s brutal honesty, with many calling it the best moment of his sportscasting career so far.

“Tom Brady wasn’t messing around. Cold blooded lmao,” posted one fan on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“The best moment of Tom Brady’s young career as a sportscaster just happened,” said another. “After Cowboys’ rookie WR slips, leading to INT, Burkhardt asks if Prescott should revert to rookie WR to rebuild his confidence.”

“That’s the Brady I want to hear lol,” one social media user gushed about the harsh criticism, while another added, “Great HONEST comment.”

“I really liked the honesty. Any other writer would say, ‘Go right back to him.’ Could be another reason for Brady’s success,” raved a fifth.

Others claimed the clip showed the tremendous improvement between Brady’s two previous on-air appearances.

“Tom must have watched a movie when he made his debut. He’s much more talkative now, lol,” one said.

“A night and day difference compared to his first week,” agreed a second. “He’s going to be really good in that dressing room. His insight is so different from the others, it’s kind of hard to explain.”

“He seems much more relaxed and talkative than last week,” another chimed in.

Former Patriots teammate Ben Watson claimed Brady was just as ruthless – if not more so – on the field.

“He’s not lying either,” Watson said of Brady’s brutal verdict. “Tom might tell the coaches after this not to even put you back in the game, lol.”

Even some fans compared Brady’s analysis in the locker room with his own target selection.

“I secretly wondered if he would say that and then he did… Because after watching him play when people messed up, he would never go back to them,” posted one social media user.

“That’s why Tom is Tom and he’s the best to ever do it,” said another. “He doesn’t give a damn about you or your confidence, he’s there to win a game. If that means you’re done and Ceedee achieves your goals, then so be it.”
