Northern California Yearling Auction to be held on August 13

Looking for a racehorse like Chancery Way, Ceiling Crusher or Yo Yo Candy? These multiple stakes winners are among the recent graduates of the CTBA Northern California Yearling Sale. The 2024 edition of the sale will be held this Tuesday, August 13, at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.

Purchased for just $6,500 from the Harris Farms consignment, Chancery Way has earned more than $415,000 over his career and won five stakes races, including a repeat victory in the Governor’s Cup in Sacramento last month.

Ceiling Crusher, also a $22,000 purchase from the Harris Farms consignment, won six of seven races, including the Grade I Cotillion Stakes, for earnings of $938,400 and was subsequently sold for $750,000.

Yo Yo Candy, a $6,000 purchase from the Checkmate Thoroughbreds consignment, won the $175,000 Grade III Sanford Stakes at Saratoga last summer.

Values like these are a staple of the Northern California Yearling Sale. In recent years, graded winner Freeport Joe and stakes winners Take the One O One, Big Fish, Kid Corleone, Opening Buzz, Camino Del Paraiso and Minister of Soul were among the Northern California Yearling Sale graduates who turned modest investments into six-figure profits.
