Notre Dame defensive lineman Boubacar Traore benefited from a puzzling decision by Purdue Boilermakers quarterback Hudson Card.

Card attempted a desperate flip, Traore easily intercepted the ball and carried it back 34 yards for a touchdown with 1:32 minutes left in the first half.

Mitch Jeter kicked the extra point as the Fighting Irish faced their in-state rivals in the first half. Notre Dame’s offense, especially the running game, was effective, and the defense kept the Boilermakers in check all day long.

Card is struggling with the pressure from the Irish and even the potentially serious injuries to three regular players have not been able to dampen the Irish spirits so far.
