Novak said in a statement: “Money is not a problem for me. I have earned enough to feed the whole of Serbia. I think they deserve this after all the support they give me.”

It is not known whether guests will have to prove that they need meals or not.

In 2009, the tennis player opened a restaurant called Novak near the Belgrade Arena in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.

And in 2016, Novak opened a vegan restaurant called Eqvita in Monte Carlo, where he and his family live.

At the time, he said: “Because of my family, I’ve always had a love of food. But as an athlete, it became something more – the fuel that dictates how I play, how I recover and how alert I am on the field… I owe a large part of my professional success to my diet.”

Novak’s parents also reportedly owned restaurants when he was growing up.

He added: “Food is my passion. Of all the things I’ve experienced in life, food has changed me the most. I wanted to share that influence with the world.”
