NYT “Connections” September 17: Clues and answers for game #464

A new day means a new Connections Puzzle, and if you get stuck, Newsweek is here to help.

Connections is a play on words of The New York Times on June 12, 2023. Since its launch, it has become the newspaper’s second most played word puzzle Wordle.

Beginning of the year Connections Developer and crossword editor Wyna Liu spoke with Newsweek about the game’s global following.

“The response has been really incredible and overwhelming and unexpected,” she said. “It’s exciting that something that’s very close to my heart is resonating with people.”

The answers for Tuesday Connections The details of the game are shown at the bottom of the page, so be careful not to let the scrolling spoil your excitement if you want to find out for yourself.

How to play connections

If you have never played Connections Before, it’s easy to get the hang of it. Players are given a set of 16 words in a grid format – four horizontally and four vertically. These words must be divided into four groups of four words each and sorted into categories based on certain characteristics. These categories range from easy to difficult, with yellow being the least difficult and purple being the most difficult. Green and blue are of medium difficulty.

For example, in Monday’s puzzle, one of the categories was “Spiny Things” and the words associated with that category were “cactus,” “hedgehog,” “mace,” and “pineapple.” This was a green category.

When you guess a category correctly, the words associated with that category flash in the difficulty color and disappear from the board. If you make your best guess but it is wrong, the words turn gray and remain on the board.

Players have no time limit, just four guesses, so think carefully. If you get frustrated, click the shuffle button to refresh your memory.
