Nobles Funeral Home announces the funeral service for Mr. George Felton Lightsey, age 82, who passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Glenwood Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Appling County, he was retired from the Appling County Highway Department and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Lightsey loved fishing, gardening and spending time on the river with his family.

Mr. Lightsey was preceded in death by his parents, George Eston and Senia Pearce Lightsey, and his four siblings, Johnny Lightsey, Joe Lightsey, Richard Burnace Lightsey and Pearl Turner.

Surviving are his two children Richard Lightsey (Deneta) and Glen Kersey (Chelsea), his five grandchildren Luke Lightsey, Jack Lightsey, Ryker Kersey, Brantlee Kersey and Landon White, and his three siblings Roger Lightsey (Eleanor), Verlene Moody (Stanley) and Yommie Taylor.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nobles Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at Nobles Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers include Richard Lightsey, Jack Lightsey, Luke Lightsey, Neal Lightsey, Glen Kersey and Marty McIntyre.

All honorary pallbearers are present.
