Oil and gas data platform Energy Domain raises $5 million

Oil and gas data platform Energy Domain raises million

Energy Domain, a technology-based online marketplace based in Fort Worth, has closed a $5 million Series A funding round. The funds will be used to complete the development of their new platform, Energy Domain Data, and explore synergies with their existing marketplace.

Founded by Ryan Vinson and the team at 5Ms Technologies, the company has experienced triple-digit growth over the past three years by improving the buying, selling and leasing of oil and gas assets through technology and analytics. Rather than seeking large investments from a few venture capitalists, Energy Domain opted for smaller contributions from individuals and companies in the oil and gas sector.

The company has moved into new offices in the Cattle Raisers Building in downtown Fort Worth to support its expansion, providing ample space for business development and software development teams. Earlier this year, Energy Domain acquired the Energent technology platform from UK-based Westwood Global Energy Group.

“We have built a reputation as a technology-enabled marketplace for upstream oil and gas deals,” said Ben Heinzelmann, CEO of Energy Domain. “So we know how important accurate and timely data is to our customers. Currently, investors in the oil and gas space must rely on costly third-party data platforms to obtain information and close deals. With this capital raise and our proprietary data sets, we are ready to transform into an upstream technology platform with two products, Energy Domain Marketplace and Energy Domain Data.”
