It’s time again for the now annual 5150′ Festival, sponsored by Visit Casper and 5150′ Local. This FREE all-day festival takes place on Saturday, August 17th from 2-10pm at David Street Station and features live music, activities for kids and adults, local vendors, food trucks, beer and more.
This year’s 5150′ Festival will also announce the winners of the Oil City’s Best: Readers’ Choice Award!
Like last year, Oil City’s Best brings locals together to select the very best people, places and things in Casper. From the best bars and restaurants to the best hair salons, best tattoo artists and more, the people have spoken and the results are in.
The nomination process for the 2024 Oil City’s Best: Readers’ Choice Awards began in June of this year. Voting opened in July. And now, after a month of thousands of local residents casting their votes and voicing their opinions, the results are in!
Nearly 1,200 Oil City readers submitted over 4,000 nominations. When nominations closed, more than 8,650 people had cast nearly 217,000 votes!
That is a much of locals celebrating things that locals love! And now we want to share the results with the rest of the community. That’s exactly what will happen this Saturday at the 5150′ Festival!
From 2pm-10pm, David Street Station presents a festival unlike any other. Named for Casper’s elevation, the 5150′ Festival is a celebration of all things local, making it the perfect place to herald the best of the Oil City’s best.
Speaking of the best, one of the best young country music acts on the scene right now is Canaan Smith. He will headline the 5150′ festival and take to the Brian Scott Gamroth Memorial Stage at 8 p.m.
According to the David Street Station website, “Smith had his first major success in 2015 with ‘Love You Like That,’ the first single from the critically acclaimed album BRONCO. The platinum-certified song shot to No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and established Smith as one of the hottest young country artists – one with serious musicianship and the unique sound to stand out in an increasingly crowded field. Smith’s fast-paced show quickly landed him a spot on some of country music’s biggest tours, including an opening spot on Dierks Bentley’s 2015 Sounds of Summer Tour, direct support for Brantley Gilbert’s 2018 Blackout Tour, and he toured extensively with Florida Georgia Line.”
Opening for Smith will be a variety of local music groups including Jamie Hansen, Christian Wallowing Bull, and Kaspen Haley & Boxelder Stomp. Smith, along with the other incredibly talented music groups, is sure to pack out David Street Station on August 17th, providing the ideal opportunity to announce who is truly the Oil City’s best.
We have all the winners, from Best Bookstore to Best Cafe, Best Doctor to Best Restaurant and much more! All winners will be announced first at the 5150′ Festival before being published online the following week.
