“Méi June Mulaney was born on September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon,” Munn wrote.

“The fact that I could not carry my daughter to term affected me deeply,” she added.

In April 2023, the actress was diagnosed with Luminal B breast cancer in both breasts. Munn revealed in March that she had undergone a bilateral mastectomy, among other surgeries, in the months following her breast cancer diagnosis. She also discussed having undergone a hysterectomy as part of her cancer treatment.

“When I first met our surrogate, we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding that I knew I had found a true angel,” Munn wrote.

She further expressed her gratitude to the surrogate mother who carried Munn and Mulaney’s child.

“Words cannot express my gratitude for protecting our baby for nine months and making our dreams come true,” she wrote.

“I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon, for making the journey to be with us. My heart exploded,” Munn continued.

She ended the post with a note explaining her newborn’s pronunciation. “Méi (pronounced ‘may’) means plum in Chinese,” she concluded.

Mulaney also celebrated the news on Instagram, writing: “We stole so much stuff from the hospital. I love my little girl so much.”

Mulaney and Munn, who married this year, also have a son together, Malcolm, who was born on November 24, 2021.

In an interview with Good Morning America in May, Munn discussed fertility issues and the idea of surrogacy due to her health issues.

“John and I talked about it for a long time. We realized we weren’t done with starting a family,” Munn said. “Right after the double mastectomy, I underwent egg retrieval and that’s a scary process because I have a cancer that feeds on hormones, so I knew there was a risk.”
