COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – In 1959, some women from Vineland United Methodist Church started selling lemonade and homemade pies out of a tent at the Colorado State Fair. From there, their popular ranch burgers evolved and became a family tradition. Grandparents who once volunteered or visited the church food stand now bring their grandchildren to help or enjoy the hearty meal. Each generation is involved, keeping the tradition alive, whether they’re working behind the counter or just grabbing a bite to eat.

“We just eat at your booth, or we really like those ranch burgers, or we, you know, we appreciate what you’re trying to do. So we have a lot of loyal repeat customers that are here. So it’s been a good project over the years,” said Rev. Rick Calhoun of Vineland Methodist Church.

Calhoun said her stand served about 2,400 hamburgers last year and expects an increase this year. The church works hard to keep prices affordable despite rising costs, and proceeds support mission projects both locally and around the world. Whether it’s funding a prayer blanket ministry or providing meals for first responders and active military personnel, the church wants to make a positive impact.

“We have a tip jar here on the counter, and all the tips that people get from that go towards donating prayer blankets. We also buy blankets to send to people who need prayers,” Calhoun said.

If you want to try the famous ranch burgers and pies, the Vineland United Methodist Church food stand is open every day during the Colorado State Fair.
