Oneida Indian Nation begins expansion of Point Place Casino

The Oneida Indian Tribe has begun construction on the Point Place Casino, initiating a major expansion of the site, officials said in a statement Tuesday.

Local elected officials, community leaders, construction partners and team members gathered at the casino to celebrate the country’s more than $50 million investment in the expansion, its team and the economic development of Madison County.

“When we built Point Place Casino six years ago, we had a vision of what it could become as an entertainment destination and economic engine for this community,” said Ray Halbritter, representative of the Oneida Indian Nation and CEO of Turning Stone Enterprises, in a statement.

“As with everything we do, this vision was guided by the understanding that if you don’t grow, you go backwards. That has been our motto in all of our businesses and the reason we are so committed to constant diversification and growth.”

Expansion plans

The Oneida Indian Tribe has continually invested in Point Place Casino since its opening in 2018, including two gaming area expansions, the addition of a sports betting area and the creation of the Perfect Pour Café.

The Point Place Casino expansion includes:

  • Doubling the size of the existing playing area
  • A new multi-storey hotel with 100 rooms
  • A new restaurant
  • A new satellite branch of the Perfect Pour Café in the hotel lobby
  • An event room
  • An update to the Fireside Lounge, doubling its current size and offering a 360-degree view of the wood-burning fireplace with cozy new seating

In addition to the many new amenities the expansion will bring to Point Place Casino, the Oneida Indian Tribe’s investment in the property will also create over 200 construction jobs, boost regional tourism and create new opportunities for Turning Stone Enterprises team members.

“The Oneida Indian Nation has created many good things that have impacted this region and benefited us all, from helping to achieve American independence two and a half centuries ago to the significant economic role it plays in our county today,” said Jim Cunningham, chairman of the Madison County Board of Supervisors, in a statement. “It has created so many good jobs in Central New York and we are so fortunate to have the Nation here.”
