Flights to wine country on the way
Ontario International Airport recently announced that Avelo Airlines, a low-cost airline based in Houston, Texas, will begin offering flights to Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport on Thursdays and Sundays beginning October 10.


Increased passenger and freight volumes
Ontario International Airport saw an increase in passenger traffic in July, with 666,322 customers, a 14.4% increase from July 2023, a news release said. The total included 629,000 domestic passengers, a 16.7% increase from July 2023, breaking the record for a single month since the airport transitioned to local ownership in 2016. The previous record of 693,000 customers was set in August 2007.

The airport is expected to handle more than 7 million passengers this year.

From January to July, the airport welcomed nearly 4 million passengers, including 3.7 million domestic and 270,000 international customers. This represents an increase of 10.9% and 23%, respectively, over the same period last year. Overall, the airport grew by 11.6%. The airlines with the highest passenger shares in July were Southwest with 33.7%, Frontier with 17.6%, American with 14.7%, Delta with 9.6% and United with 7.7%.
