Open thread on the first half between Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams

Open thread on the first half between Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams

The Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams end a wild first Sunday of football with one of the most highly anticipated games of the week.

Rams vs. Lions has carried the Jared Goff vs. Matthew Stafford storylines over the last few meetings and will do so again on Sunday night, but now the matchup means so much more. For the Rams, it’s an opportunity for revenge. The last important game they played was at this same Ford Field when the Lions narrowly defeated them in a 24-23 classic.

For the Lions, Sunday night marks the start of the franchise’s most anticipated season in at least three decades — maybe even since the beginning of history. Last season, they tied a team record with 12 regular-season wins and advanced further into the postseason than any other season in the Super Bowl era. Given their active offseason, it’s easy to assume they have a much better roster this year, so the sky’s the limit for the 2024 NFL season.

As we do every year, we will have two live threads for each Lions game. This one is for live chat during the first half of the game. The second half open thread will appear on the front page at halftime.

How does a live thread work? Simply head here, scroll to the bottom of the page and watch the comments appear automatically. As the game progresses, make your own comments and then jump to the second half thread when it’s ready.

For now, LET’S MAKE A SEASON AND GO, LIONS!
