As work progresses at Fairview Center, Burlington Stores, Inc. announced that its new store in Fairview Heights is scheduled to open in the fall.
Burlington, which will be located in the former Bed Bath & Beyond at 6611 N. Illinois St., is moving from its longtime location at 1 Plaza Drive in the Marketplace Shopping Center.
Store manager Ryan Arnold said the grand opening at the new location will be Friday, October 18.
Arnold could not provide details about the move, including whether the current store would be closed for a short time during the transition period.
The new store will feature “Burlington’s redesigned store layout and new store logo ‘Deals. Brands. WOW!'” and offer a “better and more enjoyable shopping experience,” the press release said.
The Fairview Center store offers discounted women’s clothing and accessories, men’s clothing (including a range of plus and tall sizes), children’s clothing, shoes, baby clothing and supplies, home accessories, and pet care products and toys.
In addition, Burlington is constantly looking for new “talent for the growing company,” the press release states.

Create accommodation
The BND reported in January that both Burlington and Golf Galaxy would move from the Marketplace Shopping Center at 1 Plaza Drive and 17 Plaza Drive, respectively, to the former Bed Bath & Beyond, which will close in January 2023.
The first steps of the development included reducing the size of the existing DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse by 10% to make room for four tenants instead of three. This part of the project was completed earlier this year.
The Bed Bath & Beyond facade became the entrance to Burlington and a new facade was added between Burlington and Ulta Beauty to make room for Golf Galaxy.

According to a September 10, 1986 article in the Belleville News-Democrat, the Burlington Coat Factory opened in the Marketplace Shopping Center on August 30, 1986.
“We offer a complete range of clothing for the whole family, including men’s suits and over 6,000 women’s coats,” explained store manager George Seaton at the time.
Burlington Fairview Heights remains open at 1 Plaza Drive. Hours are Sunday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
