Oregon-based Café Dutch Bros is building a location in Prattville

PRATTVILLE – Three drive-through cafes are currently under construction in Prattville.

The latest example is Dutch Bros, a Grant’s Pass, Oregon-based chain that is opening a store in the Prattville Shopping Center. The mall is located on East Main Street near the intersection of McQueen Smith Road. Representatives of the company could not be reached for comment for this article.

A Scooters Coffee location is being built on South Memorial Drive at the site of the former Church’s Chicken, and a Starbucks store is currently under construction on Fairview Avenue near the Old Farm Lane intersection.

Dane and Travis Boersema, two brothers of Dutch descent, entered the coffee business in 1992, according to the company’s website. They wanted to help their family’s struggling dairy farm. The dream began very simply: with a handcart and an espresso machine.

The company grew to a total of five push carts, and the first drive-through location was built in 1994. The company went public in 2021 and has 876 locations in 17 states, according to a report by CNBC. The stores are company-owned and franchised locations.
