A new chicken franchise restaurant is opening in Manassas – but the chicken is not fried. It is roasted on a spit, oriental style
Osmow’s Shawarma will open its 180th location in Manassas on Liberia Avenue on Tuesday, August 27. The restaurant will be located near the Longhorn Steakhouse.
According to a press release from the restaurant, the first 200 people in line will receive a free “Chicken on the Rox,” a special dish.
For the uninitiated, shawarma involves stacking marinated pieces of lamb or chicken, sometimes beef, on a vertical skewer and then cutting the meat off the skewer. You can get shawarma in a pita wrap with vegetables, pickles and yogurt sauce, or it can be part of a complete meal, served over seasoned rice, topped with garlic sauce, tahini and sumac.
Osmow’s Shawarma also offers vegetarian/vegan protein options and modern takes on classic Middle Eastern/Mediterranean dishes. The menu includes keto-friendly options, protein options, and customizable meals.
Founded in Streetsville, Ontario, the company has always been a family-run franchise, and as it expands, it looks to communities that welcome shawarma and Middle Eastern street food. It believes it is the largest Mediterranean fast-food chain in North America, the press release said.
