Packers lose opening game against Eagles in Brazil 34:29

Packers lead 6-0 against Eagles after the first quarter

Green Bay won the opening coin toss and elected to receive. Jordan Love, Kenny Clark and Matt Orzech were the captains.

Green Bay converted its first third down attempt when Romeo Doubs caught a flat pass and returned it for a 19-yard gain to the Eagles’ 42-yard line.

On third-and-6, Love caught the Eagles with 12 men on the field and appeared to hit Jayden Reed for a 38-yard touchdown, but the play was canceled because Green Bay also had 12 men on the field.

After a deep, incomplete pass to Watson, the Packers went for a fourth-and-6 attempt, but settled for a punt after right tackle Zach Tom received a false start penalty. Daniel Whelan completed his punt for 33 yards, pinning Philadelphia at their own 10.

Eric Wilson tackled Saquon Barkley for a five-yard loss on the Eagles’ first play. After an incomplete pass, Jalen Hurts attempted a pass through the seam to DeVonta Smith, but Xavier McKinney intercepted him and returned it 16 yards to the Eagles’ 19.

Love was sacked on the first attempt, but Jalen Carter was penalized for unnecessary roughness, leading to a first-and-10 at the Philadelphia 12-yard line. The Packers went back to the 22-yard line after a holding penalty on Rasheed Walker.

A 9-yard screen for Josh Jacobs set up Brayden Narveson’s first NFL field goal from 31 yards, giving the Packers a 3-0 lead with 8 minutes and 26 seconds left in the first quarter.

The Packers defense got the ball back to the offense, with Kenny Clark and Devonte Wyatt pushing back the Eagles line to force Hurts into an aborted snap. Wyatt recovered the ball at the Philadelphia 13-yard line. It’s the first time since 2007 (also against Philadelphia) that the Packers had two turnovers in the first quarter of a season opener.

First-round pick Jordan Morgan began rotating at right guard on the third offensive series. Reed gained nine yards on a pass in the flat and then Love connected with Romeo Doubs for ten yards on second-and-11 attempts against a total pressure.

Jacobs lost two yards on a third and one attempt, but Love was able to prevent a run on a fourth and two attempt and Jacobs got the two yards and the first down.

Doubs was flagged for offensive pass interference on the first attempt and goal from the 3, pushing Green Bay back to the Eagles’ 13. Tucker Kraft recovered eight yards after trickling into the flat. After two incomplete passes, Narveson hammered a 23-yard field goal to increase Green Bay’s lead to 6-0 with 3:01 left in the first quarter.
