Park City Police Respond to Collision Between Delivery Truck and Elk Calf

Moose are on the move in Park City.

Park City Police have received a number of reports of sightings recently. Some of the cases have been reported along busy roadways, while at least one of the other cases occurred on a hiking trail.

One of the moose reports involved a collision between a pickup truck and a calf. The accident was reported at 3:19 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, in the area of the intersection of SR 224 and Holiday Ranch Loop Road. According to public police logs, the moose appeared to be “off the road” afterward. No one in the pickup truck was injured, but the vehicle sustained undetermined damage.

Police said the animal did not suffer any visible injuries. The agency also said “a protective mother moose was nearby and did not allow officers to determine the calf’s condition.”
