Park City School District hosts grand opening ceremonies for two preschool expansion projects

The district invites community members to attend ribbon-cutting ceremonies at each school to celebrate the completion of the two expansions, which are part of the school bond passed by residents in 2021.

Both ceremonies will take place on Monday, August 19. The event at Jeremy Ranch begins at 4 p.m., with McPolin’s unveiling at 5:30 p.m. Classes for the 2024-2025 school year begin on Tuesday.

The expansion two classrooms added for 4-year-olds at both McPolin and Jeremy Ranch. The four classrooms will allow 70 more children to participate in the preschool program, bringing the total number of students to 225.

The expansion was driven by a Community survey from 2023, The survey came from over 300 respondents. The survey found that 86% of families need five full days of preschool or five full days plus afternoon care.

This year, the preschool program for 4-year-olds meets five days a week. The fee is $789 per month and an afterschool program is available for $400 per month. The program for 3-year-olds meets twice a week and the fee is $175 per month. A reduced fee is available for eligible families.

This is just the first phase of the preschool expansion. The district plans to add classrooms at Parley’s Park and Trailside elementary schools before the 2025-26 school year.

The district also plans to expand Ecker Hill Middle School for eighth graders and Park City High School for ninth graders.
