Passengers are frustrated as they return home via Philadelphia International Airport due to weather-related delays

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Frustration is growing at Philadelphia International Airport after travelers were stranded due to storms Sunday evening.

Many people are upset because they are away from work and don’t know when they will be home.

“We’re not from here,” said McKinley McBride of Houston, Texas. “We’re just passing through. We’re passing through, trying to get home.”

Many had to sleep on the floor at Philadelphia International Airport because their flight was delayed or canceled and they had nowhere to go.

“We tried to get a hotel last night. Every hotel here was completely booked because the line was literally from the door all the way to the top. It was complete chaos,” McBride said.

Action News also met with Max Mastine, who says he won’t be able to take a flight until Tuesday. Until then, he’ll have to pay for his hotel out of pocket while he waits to get home to Salt Lake City, Utah.

“They said the next flight wasn’t until Tuesday, so I missed another day of work,” Mastine said.

Passengers are tired of waiting in long lines without getting an answer. Some say they don’t know when they will get home.

Some people live within driving distance of their destination, but the car rental companies were closed at the times they wanted to rent a car.

“We flew back from Las Vegas. This is our layover and we arrived around 6:00 a.m. Cancelled, cancelled, cancelled – and the first thing we find out is that she’s diabetic and her medication is in a checked bag,” said Nick Lippa of Buffalo, NY.

The passengers are simply frustrated.

“They’ve been trying to put us up in a hotel since yesterday, but then the hotel they sent us to ran out of rooms after a $100 Uber ride,” said Stacie Pettingill, also of Salt Lake City.

Many people simply try to be patient while they wait to hear when they will reach their goal.
