On Saturday, Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson joined ESPN’s College GameDay broadcast before the Wildcats’ Week 2 game against Tulane.
During the interview Pat McAfee Johnson asked a question about his hairstyle that went viral on social media.
With heavy rain forecast for New Orleans, Johnson was seen walking around Yulman Stadium wearing a hoodie. McAfee asked Johnson if he had cut his hair before the game, prompting the K-State quarterback to show off his golden locks.
Kansas State earned a spot on ESPN’s coverage with a surprisingly good game against the Tulane Green Wave in Week 2. Both teams are on a roll after blowout wins in their 2024 debuts and will face off in one of the best games of Week 2.
In his first appearance, Johnson totaled 190 yards and had a 2:1 touchdown-interception ratio. The Kansas native was joined by two other members of the Sunshine State, DJ Giddens and Dylan Edwards, who both had success in the running attack.
The running duo managed 167 yards on 18 carries, an average of 9.3 yards per carry. Despite only running 10 offensive plays, Edwards reached the end zone twice that day, once through the air and once on the ground.
Johnson, Giddens and Edwards will need to have a good day in Week 2 to keep the Wildcats on the winning track. Kansas State’s game against Tulane begins at 11 a.m. CT, live from New Orleans.
