Town played well in the first 35 minutes of the game against the Stags and Leo Castledine scored an early goal to put Hurst’s side in the lead.

But Salop made mistakes that contributed to their downfall and despite some good plays they ended up with no points in Field Mill.

And when he spoke to the press after the game, he admitted that he felt like he had been in this situation before.

“I don’t think I’ll say much other than what we’ve already been through and discussed,” he said.

“There is a problem here that needs to be addressed as soon as possible, because if not, we will be doing the same interviews week after week and that will not be good enough.”

“I think sometimes we have to give credit to the opponent, but I think the game had to be won today.

“And when you don’t win, you have to take something from it. I don’t think it’s that kind of opportunity. The word frustrated isn’t strong enough, but that’s certainly how I feel.”

“We got into some really good positions and played some good football, but we weren’t careful enough with the latter.”

“It’s almost like we were satisfied with the 1-0 lead instead of continuing to have that attitude and focus because I don’t think they played that hard.

“Instead, we’re still trying to keep the ball on the field and that allows them to get men behind the ball.”

Town defender Toto Nsiala conceded a penalty just four minutes into the second half.

He pulled down experienced striker Lee Gregory as the striker’s header looked set to fly away from goal.

The striker then converted a penalty to equalise, lifting the spirits at Field Mill before Aaron Lewis scored the winning goal shortly before the end.

And Hurst described this mistake as a “bad decision” by the experienced man.

He said: “The second half didn’t start the way we wanted but we somehow got through it and to lose the game at the end is frustrating enough.

“It’s a penalty, first of all it’s a great move by an experienced centre-forward, but even then we don’t have to make the decision that was made.”

“If he scores from there, other people will be questioned. It’s a bad decision and that gives them a big boost at the start of the second half.”
