Pensacola International Airport installs new license plate recognition technology

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Pensacola International Airport has installed advanced license plate recognition (LPR) technology.

“This new system from industry leaders TIBA Parking and Gorrie-Regan is designed to make airport parking easier and more efficient than ever before,” the airport said in a press release.

Pensacola International Airport has replaced its old ticket machines and parking meters with state-of-the-art LPR machines. The new system is designed to optimize the parking experience by automatically recognizing license plates upon entry and exit.

“We are excited to offer these improvements to our customers,” said Laura Amentler, Pensacola International Airport’s finance director. “The seamless LPR system combined with the new equipment will not only increase the user experience, but also significantly reduce operating costs.”

One of the main advantages of the new system is speed, the airport says.

According to the airport, transactions take an average of 3-5 seconds.

“The TIBA solution with its LPR capabilities has proven extremely effective at other airports,” said Gorrie-Regan Sales Manager Charlie Hill. “It provides high reliability and reduces maintenance requirements, resulting in a better experience for both users and operators. We are pleased to continue our partnership with Pensacola International Airport.”
