People are stunned to learn the monthly rent for a tiny apartment with no bedrooms in NYC

Renting an apartment has become a torturous task in New York and several other cities. Young adults, among others, cannot afford decent living space. Even the smallest and most compact spaces cost a fortune and finding a good home has become a financial burden for many. Recently, real estate agent Omer Labock (@omerlabock) showed off an apartment in New York that shocked viewers. People weren’t too happy with the interior design, but it was something unique and unusual. Giving a glimpse of the apartment, one would expect at least a bedroom, kitchen, and living room. However, the apartment was designed differently.

“You won’t believe how this apartment is set up because there isn’t really a bedroom,” Labock said. He mentioned that the space was compact but nice. As he entered, he noticed the wooden interior, which looked quite elegant. However, the living room itself housed the kitchen. The refrigerator, stove, and other kitchen utensils were all on one side of the living room. As he walked further, Labock mentioned that while there is no proper room for sleeping, there is a small room. He noticed a ladder leading to an empty open space above the living room. “This is where you will sleep,” he said as he climbed the ladder.

The sleeping area seemed unusual and had no bed, table or other furniture. It was only a short distance from the ceiling and could only be used as storage or for sleeping. “I successfully made it up here, but my hands are shaking, it was no fun. This is what we call a sleeve floor. You could easily put a mattress here and use it as a bedroom or relaxation area,” explained the agent. He then showed a clean and spacious bathroom that seemed quite decent. The man also revealed that there was another room to explore. Labock reached a completely different room via a spiral staircase.

This seemed as big as the living room, but it was devoid of fabric or furniture, making it seem more spacious. “You can use it as a second living room or an office. There’s also a closet down here,” Labock said. The space was a great perk, but the fact that there was no actual bedroom was kind of off-putting. The agent revealed that the exceptional apartment cost a whopping $4,695 a month. When people heard that amount, they drew the line. @a_guy_from_newsbrunswick wrote, “NYC landlords really do charge extortionate prices.”

@transwarptrekker said: “This wouldn’t comply with building regulations here in the UK at all. A ladder and nothing to stop you falling.” @oralpleasure noted: “So basically it’s a kitchen and a basement.” Many argued that the downstairs area was a safer and smarter option as a bedroom than the tiny, thrown-together loft area. @allo_rose exclaimed: “Why would anyone sleep up there and not downstairs?” @lifeentrance noted: “This apartment isn’t overpriced per se, it’s just not very attractive for that price.”
