Pepsi invites you to eat for free at these black D-FW restaurants

Pepsi wants to support Black-owned businesses and to that end has launched “Pepsi Dig In,” a day when the brand encourages foodies across the country to dine at Black-owned restaurants.

On Saturday, August 24, Pepsi is encouraging guests to bring their favorite companions and offering them a deal on meals valued at $100,000 at more than 30 restaurants in 15 U.S. cities: “Buy two, get two free,” Pepsi said in a statement. The offer is valid only on select dishes.

In D-FW the following dishes and restaurants are participating:

  • Breakfast Brothers Chicken and French Toast
  • HCK Hot Chicken’s Nashville Style Chicken Sandwich Combo – Toasted potato bun, HCK special sauce, juicy fried chicken breast in a dipping sauce of your choice with pickles and coleslaw, served with a side of seasoned knife-cut French fries

“Pepsi Dig In Day is about shining a light on Black-owned restaurants and creating opportunities to attract more customers to their stores,” said Scott Finlow, chief marketing officer of PepsiCo Global Foodservice.

Pepsi Dig In is a platform that has been trying to encourage the growth of black-owned businesses for four years. The brand not only makes it easier for customers to eat at restaurants, but also provides resources, mentorship and training for restaurant owners.

This year, in addition to advertising in restaurants and supporting restaurant owners and employees, the brand will also host a “Pepsi Dig In” block party at the DuSable Black History Museum, the country’s oldest independent African-American museum, in Chicago, featuring performances by several artists from the entertainment and social media scene.

Other participating restaurants across the country include Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken in Las Vegas and Chicago, Ben’s Chili Bowl in Washington, DC, Dukunoo Jamaican Kitchen in Miami, Mr. Shrimp’s Kitchen in New Orleans, Blk Swan in Baltimore, Hooked Restaurant in Cleveland and The Nile Bar & Restaurant in Los Angeles.
