Peruvian City Council approves tattoo and piercing studio – Shaw Local

The Peru City Council on Monday granted a special use permit for the opening of a tattoo and piercing studio, following a recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The council unanimously approved the special use of the commercial building at 421 Fifth St. in Peru’s business district. The council had previously denied the store a special use permit for the commercial building at 1830 Fourth St. in January.

Tieman said the last time the petition was presented to council, he was in favor of it (he was one of three council members who voted for the motion). He said the city lost a tattoo parlor, so the number of tattoo parlors in the city will not increase, only one replacement will be allowed.

“They have an established business and this location has been open for almost a year, it was empty,” he said. “So I think it’s a good location outside of downtown and I welcome them.”

Owner Gloria Galindo said her family plans to open Deja Vu Tattoo. The business, Redline, would move from Mendota to Peru after seven years as a licensed tattoo business.

Galindo said she hopes to open the shop in six to eight weeks. It will include other artists and a piercer with years of experience who will bring their individual art form.

“We’re excited to be part of a good community,” she said. “Peru has always been top-notch in the community space, so it’s exciting.”
