Philadelphia Phillies batter sets new record in team history against Toronto Blue Jays

The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 10-9 in a thrilling game at the Rogers Centre on Tuesday night.

With the win, the Phillies are now 82-56 on the season. The Blue Jays fell to 67-73 after the loss. The win for the Phillies was important in that it keeps them in a good position to claim first place in the upcoming National League playoffs, along with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Phillies had 18 hits in their win, including five hits by Kyle Schwarber, who hit 5-for-6, scored three home runs, scored six RBIs and scored four runs.

According to Sarah Langs of MLB.com, he also made special team history with his second three-home run game of the season.

Schwarber is the only Phillies player with 2 in one season

It’s been another strong year for Schwarber, who is batting .245 with 31 home runs and 88 RBI. He also has a .369 on-base percentage and an OPS of .843.

Now in his 10th year with the Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals, Boston Red Sox and Phillies, Schwarber has hit 277 home runs. He helped the Cubs win the 2016 World Series and helped the Phillies advance to the World Series and NLCS in consecutive years.

The Phillies will play the Blue Jays again on Wednesday afternoon, with first pitch at 3:07 p.m. ET. Cristopher Sanchez (PHI) will pitch against Bowden Francis (TOR), who just won the American League Pitcher of the Month award.
