Fox Nation host Piers Morgan appeared on “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday to respond to Elizabeth and Dick Cheney’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris, blaming it on “Trump syndrome.” Morgan said liberals have gone to “completely absurd” lengths in their opposition to former President Trump.

White House lawyers who advised Reagan and Bush support Harris against Trump

PIERS MORGAN: That was Darth Cheney. Remember, they literally named him after the most evil villain in Hollywood history. To the liberal Democrats, that was Dick Cheney. And yet there are now two strands of hypocrisy. One, what is Dick Cheney doing endorsing the most progressive left-wing Democratic candidate in history? That in itself is completely ridiculous. And two, what is Kamala Harris doing suddenly endorsing him like that? Is that a great honor considering how the liberal Democrats have talked about him for the last 30 years? So every part of that is completely absurd… it goes to the core of what I think is really going on here. It goes to the Trump syndrome.

You know, we have been discussing this for many years. People go completely crazy when they see Trump. As you can see, Liz Cheney and now with Dick Cheney, that they’re literally suspending all of their own principles to do anything other than support Trump. And yet the polls are showing something really interesting about Trump right now. The latest New York Times poll not only shows him up by 1% in the national poll, but if you look closely at the details, it shows that most voters now see Trump as being in the middle. They think Kamala Harris is too left, but Trump is in the middle. And this is the moment when Dick Cheney has decided to embrace Kamala Harris and officially endorse her. That doesn’t make sense. And it’s indicative of the mindset of some people on the conservative side who would literally do anything, even if it destroys their principles, anything other than support Trump. And I think that’s ridiculous.

Former Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, once a rising star in the Republican Party who became one of former President Trump’s fiercest critics, said last week that she would vote for Harris.

“I don’t think we have the luxury of entering candidates’ names, especially in the swing states.” Cheney said Wednesday at a speaking event at Duke University in North Carolina.

And she stressed: “As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought about this carefully, and because of the danger posed by Donald Trump, not only will I not vote for Donald Trump, I will vote for Kamala Harris.”

A few minutes after the news about Cheney became known, the Trump campaign posted on social media a four-year-old interview by Cheney on the Fox News Channel in which he took aim at Harris.

“Her voting record in the Senate is to the left of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren,” Cheney argued at the time. “It’s clear she’s a radical liberal.”

“In our country’s 248-year history, there has never been a person who posed a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He attempted to rig the last election with lies and violence to cling to power after voters rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again,” former Vice President Cheney said in a statement last week.
