Pineville man arrested during investigation into e-cigarette store

PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) – The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office said an arrest was made following an investigation into complaints about the sale of THC-containing products to juveniles at the Pineville Smoke Shop on Monroe Highway.

The RPSO’s Rapides Area Drug Enforcement Unit began investigating these complaints in early summer 2024. After some investigation, RADE said Ahmed Gaber40, of Pineville, was identified as the distributor of these products in the store.

On August 7, a search of the Pineville Smoke Shop and Gaber’s residence uncovered an overwhelming supply of THC-containing items such as vape liquids, gummy bears and a variety of other illegal edibles. RADE agents also seized over $7,000 from Gaber’s property, presumably proceeds from the sales.

According to RPSO, Gaber was arrested and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center for selling more than 2.5 pounds of THC. He was released the same day on $10,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing as complaints continue to grow about the sale of THC and other vape products to young people. If anyone has a complaint, they are asked to contact the RADE office at the following address: 318-445-0357 or leave anonymous tips by sending direct messages to the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement Facebook page.
