Google is offering some of the highest trade-in values yet on the Pixel 9 series, with deals on the Google Store reaching up to $760 depending on what you buy.
Trade-in values are taking the fear out of expensive smartphones, as Android manufacturers rely heavily on higher trade-in values to encourage upgrades. However, Google has never preferably Values, but they seem to be pretty solid this year.
Generally speaking, Google Store trade-in values for the Pixel 9 series are pretty much in line with what you would get in a private sale. You can get just under $700 for one of the new models for a Pixel 8 Pro (base storage). If you upgrade to the Pixel 9 Pro XL, the cost of the upgrade will be around $400.
Things are even better for older devices. The 2021 Pixel 6 Pro will set you back $450 new, a solid deal for such an old device, especially when you’d be lucky to get more than a few hundred dollars when selling it privately.
Notably, Google’s trade-in values don’t depend on which device you buy. The values are the same everywhere (including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold).
Best Buy also offers solid trade-in values, maxing out at $625 for the Pixel 8 Pro for a Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Compared to the previous year, these values much higher. For example, Google is offering around $280 more to trade in the Pixel 7 Pro for the 8 Pro. Best Buy also has some outstanding deals, including $1,099 for the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Pre-orders for the Pixel 9 series are open starting today, and if everything goes the same as last year, trade-in values will likely drop sharply after the open sale.
