Sony’s PlayStation Stars loyalty program may have had some bumpy times in recent months.

However, it is an additional way to get some free PlayStation games, so don’t judge it before you try it.

For those who don’t know what PlayStation Stars is, it’s a free membership program for PlayStation users where they earn points by purchasing games, participating in challenges, and even simply launching select titles.

Points can be exchanged for free credit and I don’t have to tell you that this is pretty handy, especially since new releases are getting more expensive every year.

More specifically, the points you collect can either be exchanged for credits on your wallet or you can purchase games or collectibles directly using the points.

However, according to a user on r/playstationstars, only one of these options is the better deal.

“Use your points ONLY for wallet credits,” they wrote.

They recommend converting your points into your wallet balance, purchasing the game you want, and then earning more points for the purchase.

Instead of, for example, Starblade for 17,500 points. Instead, exchange your points for credits and buy the game that way to save some money.

Although this tip apparently varies by region, it’s still worth doing the math if you want to earn some extra free credit.

“Yes, that’s what I do,” read one comment.

“I’ll redeem as soon as I have enough for £5.

I just have a feeling that Sony will increase the number of points sooner or later.”

Another said: “Depends a lot on the country. In New Zealand, Stellar Blade costs $140 or 17,500 points in the store.”

Wallet balance rewards for 2500 points = $10. So if you have 17500 points you can get either Stellar Blade or a wallet balance of $60 in NZD.”
