Pleasant conditions, temperatures of 21 degrees expected – NBC Chicago

In the greater Chicago area, the weekend begins with pleasant temperatures, temperatures around 24 degrees and clear skies.

Although the weather has been pleasant for most of the day, the day will begin with increasing winds (up to 25 mph) before conditions calm down in the afternoon and evening, according to Kevin Jeanes, meteorologist with NBC 5’s Storm Team.

For anyone planning a trip to the lakeshore, Northwest Indiana is at high swimming risk Saturday morning as the National Weather Service warns of high waves and life-threatening rip currents. The region is at moderate swimming risk for the rest of the day, according to the NWS.

Throughout the Chicago metropolitan area, temperatures drop to over 20 degrees in the late evening hours, so if you plan to go outside at this time – for example to the Crosstown Classic – you should bring a light jacket.

On Sunday, the weather will be similar, although it will be less windy and temperatures will be slightly higher. Highs will be around 27 degrees, Jeanes said.

No rain is expected either day, although the chance of rain will increase as the work week begins. Rain chances will gradually increase after sunrise and continue into the afternoon hours, said NBC 5 Storm Team meteorologists.

It will be dry again on Tuesday and Wednesday, before rain is more likely later in the week – on Thursday and Friday.

However, no major storms are expected.
