Pokémon Red Rescue Team begins with a personality test that determines which Pokémon you will be. A total of fifty questions are selected and your personality is determined by the results of this test.

Best starter Pokémon in the Red Rescue Team

The decision you make for your Pokémon and partner is final. While you can later recruit other Pokémon to join your rescue team, you and your partner are the focus of every mission until you win the game. In total, there are 16 potential Pokémon you can get, some from the first generations starting trios, and your partner is chosen from a list of options from some of the remaining Pokémon, though you can’t choose a Pokémon of the same type as your own.

Pokemon	Most of the bosses in the game are partially flying types, including the final bossmaking Pikachu’s electric attacks very useful in the game’s toughest battles. He also learns Quick Attack early on, which allows him to attack around corners and from behind in a hallway. Squirtle	Squirtle has better water attacks throughout the game and can use Bite in addition to the normal basic attacks to add some variety to its movements. Squirtle also learns Protects and has good overall defense statisticsmaking it a great option for those worried about their survival in a dungeon.

Due to the many type matches throughout the game, choosing a Grass-type Pokémon will result in a more difficult gameplay.

While there are many starting options that are only available to the player and cannot be a partner, all of the above options can be the player or partner, allowing them to fill out or form any party they desire.
