Popular restaurant in western New York State faces lawsuit

A well-known restaurant chain based in Buffalo, New York, has made headlines for the wrong reason.

Rachel’s Mediterranean Grill, with several locations throughout Western New York, promises a “healthy, balanced lifestyle without sacrificing the taste of delicious food” and their many locations in Buffalo deliver this daily to their legions of fans of the restaurant’s popular Greek bowls and wraps.

However, a local business was dissatisfied with the chain’s performance and sued the company.

Rachel’s Mediterranean Grill sued

After previously called Buffalo Business First’s “Company of the Year” in 2022, the publication now Reports that Rachel’s Mediterranean is now being sued for overdue construction costs.

Lamparelli Construction Co. Inc., a construction company based in Cheektowaga, New York, filed suit in Erie County court for nonpayment for work completed at five Rachel’s restaurants throughout Western New York State. The total amount of unpaid work since 2021 is $283,392.

Lamparelli Construction was building a new Rachel’s branch on Niagara Falls Boulevard, but the company’s president said they stopped work three months ago before the project could be completed because payments were not made.

In a statement to Buffalo Business First, Brandon Guzda, Rachel’s Mediterranean Director of Operations, said:

“Like everyone in this industry, we are experiencing unpredictable and unprecedented times… We are thinking of the companies that did not make it through and will continue to do everything possible to correct any issues and make the most of every situation and opportunity in the near future.”

Rachel’s Mediterranean recently closed restaurants in Rochester, Syracuse and Texas, but currently operates twelve locations throughout Western New York State:

  • 5493 Sheridan Drive, Williamsville

  • 5953 Main Street, Williamsville
