Right now we’re in the middle of back-to-school season. I know this because I just spent $50 on notebooks, pens, and mechanical pencils. (Apparently we don’t use the yellow pencils that you have to sharpen yourself anymore at our house. I just got that memo this weekend.)

I repeat: school starts again.

Some stores are trying to skip this season…like Costco. This major supermarket is trying to speed things up by throwing a giant skeleton out of the ground and into the aisles to scare the crap out of us while we shop. The scream that comes from the animatronic next to it is a joyful surprise as I look at hoodies. And while I’ve seen a bit of the red and green holiday trend take over, it’s still pretty contained in the massive warehouse store. In another store, however, it’s NOT contained. In other words, if you’re not ready for Christmas yet, you should probably wait a little bit to go there.

Christmas has already exploded in a store in Minnesota

There’s a store in Rochester, Minnesota that is so much fun to shop at, mostly because of the unique items they stock. Stickers, signs, shirts, jeans, hoodies, hats…so many fun items sitting on the shelves. If you ever see someone just randomly taking photos and laughing at Hunt’s Silver Lake Drug & Gift, it’s probably me. Here are some of my favorite recent finds:

This sign needs to go in my boys’ bathroom.

I took the “Dead Inside But Caffeinated” photo because my daughter hates skulls. Whenever I see a cute one, I send her a photo. I almost bought this shirt though because there are days when that feels like my life. I mean, I AM the coffee queen of Minnesota.

I was a little shocked, though, when I went to pick up some medication the other day and Christmas seemed to have already exploded in one aisle. According to The Connection, this is called “Christmas creep,” where Christmas keeps showing up earlier and earlier. I’m not mad about it, but it was July when I saw Christmas decorations in a store… and that just seemed a little early to be bringing out all the Hallmark Christmas decorations. Just a side note.
