Popular young actress and singer admits she can’t have children

Selena Gomez, the former Disney star who currently stars in the Hulu hit “Only Murders in the Building,” said in a recent interview that she is unable to carry her own children due to health reasons.

“I never said that,” Gomez tells Vanity Fair. “But unfortunately I can’t carry my own children. I have many health problems that would endanger my life and the lives of the babies. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”

Gomez, 32, says in the article that she is still looking forward to starting a family one day with her boyfriend Benny Blanco.

“I thought it would happen like it happens to everyone,” Gomez says. “I feel so much better about this. I feel blessed that there are wonderful people who are willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both great options for me. … At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’s going to be mine. It’s going to be my baby.”

Gomez was diagnosed with lupus in 2015.

Gomez rose to fame in 2007 when she starred in the Disney television series Wizards of Waverly Place. In addition to her roles in several television shows and films, Gomez has also had success as a singer. Her first single as a solo artist, “Come and Get It,” reached No. 6 on the Billboard charts in 2013. Her first solo album, “Stars Dance,” reached No. 1. “Revival” in 2015 and “Rare” in 2020 also reached No. 1.

However, Gomez’s biggest success came with her makeup and cosmetics brand Rare Beauty, which she founded in 2019. According to a report by Bloomberg, Gomez is one of the youngest people ever confirmed to be a billionaire, with a net worth of $1.3 billion.

Gomez, who is the third most followed person on Instagram with 424 million followers, also has endorsement deals with Puma and Coach reportedly worth $30 million and $10 million respectively.
