Portland Gas launches software to facilitate CNG vehicle conversion

To support the federal government’s initiative to promote the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) in vehicles, Portland Gas Limited has implemented state-of-the-art customer relationship management (CRM) software to streamline the conversion process.

Making the announcement, CEO of Portland Gas Limited, Folajimi Mohammed, said the software, designed to plan and manage all car conversion appointments, ensures that the switch to CNG is smooth and hassle-free for every driver.

In addition, the CRM system will create and maintain a comprehensive database of all conversions so Portland Gas can track progress, identify trends and continuously improve its services, he said.

“This database will be an invaluable resource, not just for Portland Gas, but for the entire CNG ecosystem. It will enable us to better support our customers, optimize our operations and provide valuable insights to the broader CNG community,” said Mohammed.

The launch of the software is part of Portland Gas’s commitment to support the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi) in every way possible. The company has also launched the MyCNG app, a user-friendly platform designed to facilitate the transition to CNG by providing real-time information on CNG filling stations, fuel prices and conversion centers.

“We believe this initiative will set a new standard for service excellence in the CNG sector and further accelerate the adoption of this clean, efficient fuel,” added Mohammed.

The federal government is cooperating with the private sector through PCNGi to subsidize the conversion of vehicles from premium motor spirit (petrol) to CNG. The government has also launched a CNG app for taxi operators to make calls via e-hailing and offers a 50 percent discount on the conversion cost.

With the launch of Portland Gas’ CRM software and the government’s efforts to promote the use of CNG, Nigerians can look forward to cheaper, more efficient and environmentally friendly transportation options in the near future.
