Predicting the Chiefs’ first four games in September

Predicting the Chiefs’ first four games in September

The Kansas City Chiefs are on the verge of their third consecutive Super Bowl victory after defeating the San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling overtime victory in February. No one said it would be easy for the Chiefs, as they have a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game on their immediate schedule and a number of difficult games beyond that.

But as we’ve seen over the last few years, head coach Andy Reid always makes sure his team is ready to play, and having Patrick Mahomes at quarterback doesn’t just give the Chiefs a “chance” to win every game. With Mahomes at quarterback, the Chiefs have the biggest advantage in all of professional sports.

So how will the first few games of this season go? Will the Chiefs be able to get off to a good start in September? We predict all of their September games.

Thursday, September 5

As mentioned, the Chiefs’ title defense begins with a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game. If the Chiefs want to win their third straight title, they will likely have to face Baltimore multiple times, as the Ravens are one of the most versatile, best-coached, and best-equipped teams to compete in the AFC.

Last year, they weren’t up to the task in the postseason, which honestly surprised almost everyone. But the Chiefs have been so on-gasp in the postseason that not many teams have been able to get in their way and survive to tell the tale.

The Ravens added Derrick Henry to the team this year, but aside from that move, this will feel like a very familiar matchup on paper. These two teams have built on continuity and know each other well by now. This should be a really exciting matchup, but I think the Chiefs will start this season with a convincing win, unlike what we saw last year when they looked sloppy in a loss to the Lions at home.

Prediction: Chiefs win 34-24
